We recently finished watching the entire Black Sails box set. Initially, when I was informed about the plot, I wasn’t particularly intrigued. However, after two episodes, I was completely hooked! (See what I did there? 😂)
The character that truly captivated me was John Silver, famously known as Long John Silver from the renowned fictional book Treasure Island. What I particularly admired about this series was the lively conversations the pirates engaged in and the storytelling of tales that were passed down from generation to generation, igniting a passion among the crew and instilling fear in the English to deter them from interfering. This was their aspiration for their legacy and their place in history books. The clever wording and foresight that John Silver skillfully crafted into the minds of the pirates secured their support and devotion to carry out his every whim. However, the most astonishing act was his willingness to relinquish gold and victory in a war to be with the love of his life, a black slave woman. In light of this, I decided to google Long John Silver and lo and behold, I found a recipe called Long John Silver Fish & Chips, which I thought would be an excellent addition to our end-of-year menu. 🏴☠️
